show Abstracthide AbstractFilamentous fungi produce a variety of bioactive compounds affecting other organisms in their surroundings. In general, the secondary metabolites (SMs) are biosynthesized by a set of proteins encoded from contiguous gene cluster. Although fungal genome sequences are accumulated, transcriptomic view for evolution of SM was lacking. Here, we conducted a series of comparative genomics and transcriptomics analyses using closely related 5 species of Aspergillus section Fumigati, namely medically important pathogenic fungi Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus lentulus, Aspergillus udagawae, Aspergillus pseudoviridinutans, and Neosartrya fischeri.
